Federal Contracting Consulting Business Growth

My name is Nicholas S. Robertson. My story is unique as to how I became involved within the arena of federal contracting.

I was serving as Mayor in a small bedroom community in southeast Iowa and having a blast doing it. We had Mahaska County full of young 30-something local politicians who were eager to make a mark. I even shared a 36 student high school class with one of them.

One day, I received a call from a retired Colonel with a vision. He asked me if I would be willing to drop my village post for an opportunity in the big city. Trusting God and eager to understand His plan, I quickly accepted.

Five years prior to speaking with me, Jan Frye built the state-of-the-art VA Acquisition Academy in 2008 from a thirst to modernize business sector. It does just that to this day. To give you a glimpse into its awesomeness, computer monitors pop through the tabletop at the push of a button. Such technology meshed with modern decor trademarked by a mirrored glass front of the building serve as the epicenter for retired federal executives and military brass to share their knowledge within a classroom curriculum.

I learned the do’s and don’ts of both bid and scheduled contracting with an emphasis upon procurement rather than acquisition. While acquisition is the irresistible force of federal business due to its significant girth by way of number of line-items as well as astronomically high contract values, procurement is the immoveable object which has been both proven as evergreen and ever changing morphing into better buying power as arguably the world’s biggest and most successful purchaser of commercially available and customizable goods as well as services aimed at serving the taxpayers along with the warfighters in this great country.

My cohort finished training and OJT in 2015 two years after we started. I was placed in the VA’s FSS program which is a smaller version of GSA and only concerned with medical protocol within the federal sector. I worked in medical equipment and supplies to begin with and then moved to services schedules all the while dabbling in pharmaceuticals. That was well and good but my favorite part of the job always has been the people.

After 9.5 years serving our country, I have taken the leap into consulting. I left government at a GS-13 level. I know my stuff. I was trained in procurement,, worked in acquisition and served as a go-to for people working in both arenas.

I’m eager to serve you. If you think I can help then send an email to nicholas.s.robertson@outlook.com and you can be a part of my childhood vision of Robertson KX!

I’m excited to launch with you and your company into this big opportunity for both of us.
