I heard it daily if not weekly when I was in the government. “If we just had somebody else in our cube to read for us, and we could make the decisions then our lives would be so much easier.” That wish is quickly becoming more of a promise.
Offices are using AI for assistance with regulations, discussions, market research, analysis and referencing databases.
Will every office maximize its potential? Not unless it’s mandatory. Does it possess the propensity to slash PALT? Sometimes. Right now, it can do the busy work that a CO knows is necessary, but has to do regartdless.
Currently, the average PALT is 18 months to award a federal contract. Because AI does not make a cognitive decision nor write the legally binding documentation for a CO.
AI can and should be a breath of fresh air to all sides of the contracting community, but it won’t replace your CO or your CO’s consultant just yet.
