FAR 26 Other SocioeconomicPrograms
FAR 26.1 introduces that their is an incentive for contract awardees to subcontract with Indian businesses. That incentive is 5% of the value of the subcontracted work paid to the contract awardee or prime contractor.
Representation of an Indian business is self-certified but can be challenged. Investigations are conducted by the Bureau of Indian Affairs.
FAR 26.2 discusses the Robert T. Stafford Disaster Relief and Emergency Assistance Act which gives preference to local awardees who choose to be enrolled in the program when contracting in times of disaster or emergency relief.
FAR 26.3 promotes the inclusion of Historically Black Colleges and Universities and minority institutions in federal procurement inside the geographic boundaries outlining the 50 states within the United States of America.
Food donations to non-profit organizations are covered in FAR 26.4. When contractors donate food, the government is not responsible for costs, reimbursement or civil and criminal liability.
The government incentivizes usage of diverse entities and donation to non-profits in order to ensure opportunity for all to succeed.
I’ve enrolled vendors in the disaster and emergency recovery program but never awarded minority institutions or oversaw contractor donations.
