Quick Hitter: FAR Part 3

This series of FAR summaries is meant to take a meaningful portion of the Federal Acquisition Regulations to ensure an easy-to-understand approach to maintain that readers comprehend the process of doing business with the government and that the government exercises a fair and reasonable approach to doing business with the general public.

FAR 3.101-1 General

Government business is to be conducted with the highest of ethics. No preferential treatment is to be displayed to the government or its contractors during any phase of the project life-cycle unless justified through law or acquisition regulation. Examples of such are found in FAR 6.3. The transaction should be conducted in a manner in which public display would not shed light on any unjust assumptions or occurrences.

The contracting process within the perimeters of the federal government can be both overwhelming and very lucrative. A voice of reason and understanding can help you make the appropriate choice. Your Contracting Officer may not always be able to assist due to their ethically based constraints.
