Completing Your Price Proposal: Services

We had a guy on the high school wrestling team who would Bello a ditty every time we did stretches for our groins we referred to as “Pain”. The stretch would begin by the athlete putting their heels together and their legs in the shape of a diamond. They then would utilize their elbows to press their knees down as far as they could.

The Limerick went a little something like this:

The cow kicked Nelly in the belly in the barn.

The cow kicked Nelly in the belly in the barn.

The cow kicked Nelly in the belly in the barn.

The second verse, same as the first. A little bit louder and a lot more worse.

And so on until that particular piece of calisthenics was completed. Yes, it did get loud but none of us thought it got worse. Our giggles just made it that much better.

This concept pretty much applies to the services portion of your price proposal with a few extras thrown in. It doesn’t have to be louder and it doesn’t have to be worse though if you know what you’re doing. If you don’t, you can always contact me.

Differences

CPL Is Market Prices

There are not commercial catalogs for the creation of human service providers. Therefore, a commercial catalog price list is not used. Market prices are, though.

Some Things Don’tExist

Warranty and RGP need not apply. That’s because humans unlike products are wonderfully and fearfully made and you can’t ship humans through the postal or delivery service in a box.

Key Words

Some agencies allow the vendor to input a set number of searchable words to find their product in their agency online catalog. Keep in mind that these words need to be in the product description as well.

Some agencies allow you to propose price escalations for a 20 year contract! I know the average economic price adjustment annually that is acceptable.

Instructor Or Web-Based Training

Some agencies allow you to incorporate training into your proposal. There may be a web training on how to use the specific equipment at a specific hospital. There may be instructor lead training on how to fill out some paperwork. The world is your oyster here.

As with commodities, services on a buy have a pricing schedule in the solicitation and schedules have a tabbed spreadsheet.
