Compliance Check

It’s like a 55 year old man scheduling annual physicals and quarterly check-ups because his wife that he tells his friends he can’t live with is something or someone he really can’t live without. That’s federal compliance in a nutshell. You want the bank but the work can seem tedious. Just like with marriage, you sound tougher with a backyard story but both your spouse and your government contract are both worth it in the end because they both make you feel on top of the world.

You must keep a profile in SAM that remains active showing all relevant representations and certifications. This is a role based system and pertinent information is kept proprietary while some is visible to the general public. This includes your business size standard applicable to the NAICS Code within the solicitation drafted by the government. Your CO will cross-reference this with your entire proposal. Ensure the information is synced with SAM. You may be surprised how often it is not concurrent throughout the project.

VETS-4212 depicts the number of veterans in your workforce. New offerors don’t have to provide one until the beginning of the next fiscal year after award. Please don’t make your CO chase you down. They will. Especially, if they’re in the VA.

Pathways To Success included in your proposal is kind of like eggs in the human diet. Good sometimes and not necessary others. Obtaining this cert will get you good experience though when it comes to navigating a federal portal. I say go for it.

There’s some crumbs dealing with communication and purchasing programs that are taken care of in SAM but they still need marked in some solicitations. Remember to keep your information fluid.

I have yet to operate in SAM for a vendor but I know a lot of consultants do. I perused completed profiles for years. I’m sure the learning curve isn’t steep.
